Rituals, customs, traditions, and practices linked to the rural world are all documented through the meticulous work of many local writers from the village of Oscata. Many residents have found in writing their way to leave a mark for future generations, so much that Oscata has been described by the renowned poet Franco Arminio as "the most intellectual village of Irpinia". Through stories—often autobiographical—novels, or small anecdotes, numerous writers have contributed to creating a strong connection between the ancient peasant civilization and modernity. Trades, ways of working, cooperating, cultivating, living spirituality, and pagan rituals are all well described in the following texts, all set in Oscata.

In Oscata, it is possible to independently explore the entire village with podcast audioguides via the Loquis app (available on smartphones) and listen to the stories included in the project "Oscata, village of storytelling houses", associated with each house and each door. You can hear life as it once was, in homes where the kitchen was the entire house. This project was developed in collaboration with Hearpinia, a collective that produces several podcast channels on the platform.
